Sundesh - Evaluation

My original ideas was to create an animation with original character based around the anime “Full Metal Alchemist”, after abit of research I found that there would be a lot of complicated animating for various things, such as spells and attacks, so this idea change to be based on bleach and mainly on the sword fighting style, I would add spells only once Im better at animating and quicker, that way I can create spells fast and add them when needed.

My Product is still intended for the anime lovers, as it contains violence I will also still be intended for 12’s and over as I don’t think anyone under this ages should be viewing it. As it is 12 afew ideas had to be cut due to the original animation being gory.

My character doesn’t have much of a look and texture, though he does have a bulky body and could end up looking a lot better once I continue to develop him, he has a good body to edit, so parts of him are easy to change and can easily be modified but as for whole animating side, the bones connections still needs tweaking to make the character move more smoother. The texture is easy to apply and will be better once the character is developed.

The character has a nice look about him and the objects go with the character, as the character goes on to look better the textures will develop as the character.

I have a bulky style of working, I don’t like thin and small models. Im more into anime style designs which is easy at times to convert to 3d which is good for my animation, but there are times it gets hard for certain body parts such as hair, and objects are sometimes hard to.

I started with position problems were the characters arms did not match up with his torso, this was resolved by positioning the arms and welding the vertexes to make the animation a whole body. The bones were also a problem as the arms and leg bones go downwards and the spine start from the bottom and work upwards, this was complicated, but once I got the hang of it, my animation came along greatly.

I have learned how to add bones to a model and how to skin the model. At the start of modelling I also learned how to add textures and edit using polygons. This will help a lot in future modelling and will help design better.

Through working on this model, I have developed skills in skinning, rigging, character and object modelling, texturing and how to set up cameras.

I have met the deadline I was given, but will continue to develop my character as I feel a great accomplishment from designing and creating my own 3d model.

There were a few problems with time management as many days 3d max has a problem and I miss out on making my character better, as some days ill think of how to make the character better but as I miss time adding these ideas I get back on and forget what my ideas were and have to carry on the way my first idea was.

I would take more time in the character physique and develop clothes onto another max file, this was I can optional clothes for the character and id be able to edit him better in future work.

I am fairly happy with my overall product as I could have had more time to work on him and I could have gave him texture to make the character look better, if I could I would also fix bugs that were needed to be fixed, but as my first 3d model I am happy with what It turned out to be.
